La Ink: Kat Von D In Love Again

Fans of the TLC reality television shows Miami Ink and its spin-off LA Ink are very familiar with female tattoo artist Kat Von D, who has appeared in both series. More than 70 percent of her whole body has been used as a canvas for creative and artistic designs, and she still wants to add even more. During a guest appearance on Late Night with David Letterman last September 12, the 25-year-old tattoo artist stated that she considered tattooing her entire body to be a lifelong project, and that she would continue working on it until she had a full body suit of tattoos. Other topics that Kat Von D discussed were the various histories behind her different tattoos, including her own family's reaction to them and their presence on her body, along with her life before in Miami. After appearing for two seasons on Miami Ink and getting into creative differences with other cast members, she moved and returned home to he hometown of Los Angeles, where she opened up and started running the High Voltage Tattoo parlor. Her tattoo shop and its artists are the subject matter of, as well as her new fellow cast members in the spin-off of LA Ink. She told Letterman that Miami was not really the place for her to be, and that around every weekend, she would still catch a flight home to L.A. Upon being asked, she further explained that she didn't really regret any of the tattoos she'd ever had done, even the ones with names of ex-lovers. Kat Von D had her first tattoo done when she was 14 years old, and has always been very fond of body art. One of the latest developments in her life was her divorce from Oliver Peck, and her falling in love again, this time with a musician. Her latest flame is Alex "Orbi" Orbison, who is the drummer for the group Whitestarr.

Girl Tattoo Designs: Getting The Right Design

There are so many girl tattoo designs to choose from. How do you pick the one that is just right for you? Here are some basic tips for finding the design that you would love to keep for the rest of your life. Know What You Want Tattoo should be more than skin-deep. Remember that tattoos will stay on your skin forever. You should pick a design that you personally want and that is significant to you. Do take note though that various designs may not have the same universal meaning as you would think. Flowers for example are definitely feminine but some particular kinds of flowers may also signify jealousy, flirtatiousness, unfaithfulness and folly. You can ask an experienced tattoo artist for design definitions. You can also research for them online. Decide on a design only when you like it very much and you know what it means. Pick the Right Spot Although tattoos can be placed anywhere, some parts of the body however are more ideal than others. Your choice of tattoo spot will depend on your particular purpose for wearing the tattoo. If you want something that can be seen, then you can settle for arm or facial tattoos. If you wan to be more discreet, then you can choose spots that can be hidden by choice. These include the lower back, foot and inner wrist. There are also spots that are more common than others. These areas include the lower back and the arms. If you want to be more original, you can choose to have a tattoo on the foot, although this may hurt more than usual. Size Matters Girl tattoo designs have different shapes, sizes and even variations. There is however, a big difference between designs for males and females. Those for ladies are almost always smaller than their male counterparts. There are big designs for women. These however are typically more delicate, dainty and refined. Tattoo artists may recommend designs for you but the final decision is always yours. If you want a tattoo that will make you seem more feminine, then opt for scaled down designs. Get the Tattoo for Yourself Get a tattoo because you want to. Getting one because someone else wants you to is never an option. You have to be certain that your permanent body symbol is your personal choice. This is especially important because tattoos are not universally appreciated. Some people tend to view tattooed women as tramps or sluts. If you make getting a tattoo a personal decision, you wouldn't worry too much about criticisms. Pay for a Good Artist The final key to the right design is the artist. Reputable artists will always beg off from a design that is not feasible. They will also carefully counsel you about a bad design or tattoo spot location. You should settle for an artist who is experienced but who can be honest with you. Great girl tattoo designs are hard to pass up. You should always be careful with your design choices though. Make sure you get your design right the first time. A botched up tattoo may be hard to fix.

You're seriously considering getting your own tattoo, however your preliminary searches online have presented you with a whole range of designs and options regarding what sort of tattoo to get. Should you opt for a free design or go all out with a custom design? Right now we'll focus on custom tattoo designs, explore what they are and what the benefits of going custom are. What are Custom Tattoo Designs? The name is very self-explanatory. Basically a custom tattoo design is a design which a designer creates just for you. In the truest sense, a custom tattoo design is created by a professional tattoo artist, skilled in the craft of creating tattoos. Many enthusiasts and professionals will argue that it is best to enlist a professional to create a custom design for you, because it is the best way of ensuring your design is of the highest quality. By enlisting a professional tattoo artist, you will also be able to request them to create the stencil of that design for you, so it can be applied directly to your skin. Every tattoo design requires a stencil, and this is always a much easier process if the tattoo artist also creates the design. Why a Custom Tattoo Design? A tattoo is a lifelong commitment, unless you have the courage and high pain tolerance threshold required for the laser surgery necessary for removing a permanent tattoo. Due to the fact that a tattoo is permanent, you need to make sure you absolutely love the tattoo that is about to be superimposed onto your skin. Chances are, you may already have a design in mind that you would like, however on the other hand, you may have already spent hours browsing designs and may wish to blend a number of designs into one. If this is the case, a custom tattoo design will be the best way to go. By choosing to have a custom tattoo designed, you are working with a professional tattoo artist from day one. The artist will be able to create the design just for you, and also create the stencil for that specific design. The stencil will then be used by the tattoo artist when it comes time to superimpose the design onto your skin. Even if you were to design the tattoo yourself or enlist a non-professional to draw your design, your tattoo artist would still need to create the stencil. By engaging the tattoo artist from design through to inking, you are doing everything to ensure your tattoo is of the highest quality. That's really important considering the permanence of the tattoo itself. Ideally you want to be able to display your tattoo proudly, without any embarrassment and custom design is the best way to achieve this. Choosing your Custom Tattoo Design If you already have the design you want firmly in your mind, it's simply a matter of meeting with a professional tattoo artist to create something tangible. If you don't as yet know what sort of design you want, the best thing to do is browse as many tattoo designs as possible. The internet is a great place to start and there are articles on this website that will direct you to quite a number of good tattoo design websites. As you will find, there are many tattoo design websites that will charge people a membership fee, if they wish to access and download design ideas. By all means join such websites if you haven't been able to find inspiration from other designs you may have seen. These membership sites typically have a huge range of tattoo designs to choose from, and clearly, the more designs you see, the more of an idea you will eventually have when it comes to the tattoo you want. There are also a large number of tattoo enthusiast communities online, where people will post photographs of their tattoos and this may also provide you with inspiration that will help you to choose the design for you. Finding the Inspiration for your Custom Tattoo Design By conducting simple searches for terms such as, "tattoo designs" and "tattoo design galleries" using your favorite search engines, you will find a great array of tattoo design galleries for you to check out. It will take you time to find the designs that most appeal to you, because there are just so many options out there.

Tattoo Advice: Taking Good Care of A New Tattoo

As soon as your tattoo has been finished, the tattoo artist will offer you some advice on the right ways to take good care of your fresh tattoo. Some tattooing outfits will provide an information sheet which will list out instructions that you should follow. Two basic rules are essential when it comes to taking care of a new tattoo, moisturize but do not over moisturize, DO NOT pick at scabs when they start to form. If you choose to do otherwise and neglect these rules, you run the risk of getting infected and you also run the risk of ruining your new tattoo. As long as you keep to these bits of advice, you should be alright. Forget what other people say about taking care of new tattoos and only stick to the rules which are known to work. A lot of people get one tattoo and decide to mix up the rules when they get another one. Regardless of whether you have used something which you developed a reaction to, you are better of contacting the tattoo artist and asking for what you can substitute it with. A patch test on your skin before you get a tattoo may be a good idea to see whether you develop a reaction. One problem is that the recommended ways that you should properly take care of your tattoo may differ from one tattoo artist to the next and this can become a problem. One tattoo artist may instruct you to use Neosporin several times a day whereas another may suggest that you powder your bed before getting into it (this avoids you sticking to the sheet), a mild baby soap to wash the tattoo, baby lotion to moisturize the skin, and diaper rash cream to apply to any areas that might rub against the bra, waist of pants, socks, etc. Certain other individuals will suggest that you use a number of different ointments and lotions. Some will say that the Tea Tree Oil (toner) from the Body Shop is the best because of its healing powers or that the cheapest form of tattoo treatment is Vaseline Intensive Care. If you stay in an area that is dry the chances are that you will be using a lot of lotion anyway so you can opt for a large pump bottle of lotion in order to get the best bargain. This will help you forestall any problems and take proper care of your tattoo. Varying opinions are held from one studio to the other when it comes to the issue of body art healing and this can become rather confusing. Despite this fact there are many legitimate reasons why so many differences in opinion exist. Some of the means through which you can take care of your tattoo have been covered already and there are many other options such as ointments and lubes designed simply for tattoos but most of them are really just commercial versions of most products listed above. There is a plausible reason for the variety of ways to take care of your tattoo; this is because of various improvements in technology and a variety of products that have become available in the marketplace. Petroleum jelly was a largely popular product in the past due to the fact that it was widely available, inexpensive and did the task rather well. However ever since then it has been discovered that products which are petroleum based tend to drain the color from tattoos and they possess no healing powers.

Feminine Tattoos - Things to Consider

The Stocking Project - Priscilla by Images by Laszlo.
While anyone considering getting a tattoo needs to do a little planning, women in particular should give some thought not only as to what the tattoo is going to be, but to where on the body it will be. It is important to take location into consideration to get a feminine tattoo that continues to look good over time. Pregnancy and normal aging can cause changes in women's bodies that produce more change in the elasticity of the skin in certain areas than what is typically seen in men. You don't want a nice, pretty, feminine tattoo in a place where it is likely to be on sagging or stretch-marked skin. Not only do potential skin changes make some areas unsuitable, tattoos can draw attention to areas that you might want to be less noticeable at some point in your life. For this reason, I suggest that women consider areas for their tattoos that are not subject to big changes in skin elasticity and tone. The ankle, back of the neck, low back, and shoulder blade areas work well in most situations. Another area where the skin tends to stay relatively firm is the forearms, but this area is more popular for masculine as opposed to feminine tattoos. Although popular locations for tattoos with many women, the belly-button area and the breasts are subject to considerable distortion with the changes that tend to occur with pregnancy and aging. Even the pubic area can be susceptible to loosening of the skin, or some sagging of the lower belly from above, and so these areas might be better to avoid. After you decide where to get the tattoo, the next decision is what to get. The first recommendation is to NEVER have someone tattoo the name of your lover anywhere on your body. No matter how good the relationship is right now, things can change! There are many possibilities for feminine tattoos, so choosing can be challenging. The main thing is to pick something that you really like and not let yourself get talked into something you don't want, because that tattoo will be with you for a very long time. Spend the time to study your options to figure out what you want - there's no need to rush into anything. If you are looking for an image such as a Celtic knot, a flower, or some other picture, simply keep looking until you find something that you really like. If you are considering an Asian letter or some kind of symbol, I recommend that you research it fully to be sure you know what it means. A single reference or a tattoo artist may give you incorrect information, and so instead of a symbol that means "gentle waters", it could very well mean "puddle of urine". Just be sure you know what it is that you are having permanently imprinted on your body.

The rose design is considered to be a symbol of true love and has been revered in both, secular and religious context. The rose has many accepted traditional meanings that are applied to the rose body art by association. It has become the ultimate floral symbol on account of its unmatched fragrance and beauty. The red rose can symbolize martyrdom. It's associated with Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary. Several rose tattoos are worn to honor a deceased loved one too. If you want to get a red rose tattoo, it is important to know the meaning behind the rose colors. A dark red rose stands for unconscious beauty. The red rose is for courage, respect, romance and love. A red rose bud tattoo symbolizes loveliness and purity. Blue roses symbolize impossibility. Coral roses indicate desire. Black rose designs mean death. The white rose tattoo design is a symbol of innocence, reverence, youthfulness and purity. White rose bud tattoos also celebrate the girl-child. Tattoo artist say, a red rose with thorns reminds the person that beauty does not surface in the absence of adversity and sacrifice. The rose can be flaunted singly, as trailing vine or as a bouquet. Rose body art have been popular in the west for decades. This piece of body art shares the most intriguing history and symbolism. The rose tattoo is a traditional choice and more popular than the hibiscus, daisy, lily or even the orchid tattoos. The lotus body art designs are probably the only ones that can be compared to these designs. Tattoo artists around the world have made an effort to promote the flower tattoo art. The rose tattoo is available in many different shapes and sizes. You can add to the flower design with a heart or fairy or even a butterfly.
